Small house in row. Mid C19. English garden wall brickwork,
slate roof. A small row house, formerly one of a pair with
No.9, which is now incorporated in the Rodwell Hotel, Rodwell
Road (qv).
2 storeys and attic, 1 window; a raking dormer with sash above
a bowed oriel with fine modillion cornice, with 4:4:4-pane
sashes, above a plain sash. To the left, in an elliptical
brick arch a 4-panel moulded door to a shallow fanlight.
Moulded wood cornice, broad brick stack to the right gable.
The rear, set high above Franchise Street includes a 12-pane
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: rear is contained by a rubble retaining
wall approx 3m high, which adjoins the return wall from
Rodwell Hotel to the right (qv), and continues to the left
behind Nos 6 & 7 (not included).
