2 houses at end of row, with shops. Late C18 or early C19.
Rendered, slate mansard roofs. The property returns to Bond
Street and Maiden Street at a narrow end with quadrant
corners.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and attic, the main front with 6 windows.
2 flat-roofed dormers above a blind light to the quadrant, a
plain sash, blind light, 2 plain sashes, and a blind light at
second floor, and 3 bowed oriels with dentil cornices; 2 of
these have plain sash, but the third has 4:12:4-pane sashes.
The bold C19 shop front is in 3 wide bays with a 4th to the
quadrant corner, all to a deep fascia and fluted consoles and
pilasters. Across the corner is an ornate scrolled fretwork
arch with a central head on pilasters to lion-head consoles;
the doors are set well back.
The shop front detail continues in 2 bays in simplified detail
to Bond Street, under 2 oriels with plain sash, and two 6-pane
sashes.
The Maiden Street front has a flat-roofed dormer above a
central sash flanked by blind openings at each level, and a
plain wall beneath the continued shop fascia. There is also a
blind light to the first and second floors on the quadrant.
Further to the left is a section set back, with high mansard
roof and raked dormers to a very large central ridge stack and
smaller end stack. A small C20 infill unit to the street. The
whole frontages have a second-floor sill band, a moulded
cornice, blocking-course and parapet.
