Group of 4 monuments approx. 4m NW
of tower of Church of St Andrew

GV II

Group of 4 headstones, NW of the tower, and adjacent to the W
churchyard wall. Portland stone. C17, C18 and C19. From the N:
(i) A large, thick double stone in the form of an open book,
with square head. There are no embellishments, but the
partially legible inscriptions cover the whole surface, and
include John ..... 1753, also John Samuely, 1775; (ii) A small
stone with complex shaped head, and a fine inscription
including Mary, daughter of John and Elizabeth Brown, d.1828;
(iii) A very thick, square-headed stone with bevelled back,
with a complete but only partly legible inscription, including
171- .... wife of John Smith (?); (iv) A small and thick plain
rectangular stone with an illegible inscription, probably of
the later C17.
