Originally farmhouse, largely rebuilt 1896 by Douglas and Fordham for
the 1st Duke of Westminster. Stone dressed red brick with blue
diapers encasing parts of earlier sandstone walls. Slate roof with
two symmetrically placed shaped 3-flue chimneys on rear slope. 2
storey 3 bay. Projecting oak-framed gabled porch on shaped sandstone
plinth: arched entrance under carved beam with date; leaded glazing to
sides. Upper storey brickwork to front (above stone string at 1st
floor) in panels with arched brick corbelling to eaves. Stone
surrounds and mullions (with ogee head to each light on ground floor)
to iron casements with leaded glazing. Stone-dressed lancets in
rendered end-gables. 4 panel door with arched upper panels.
