SX 45 SW MAKER-WITH-RAME GARRETT STREET (west side),
Cawsand

9/151 Karen's Kitchen and Gill's

GV II

House with integral stable to left, now restaurant and shop. Circa 1800, ground
floor of the house to right altered for a shop mid C19, with later C20 alterations.
Red sandstone ashlar, slate roof; Devonian limestone front area to house, formerly
with railings along front kerb.
Originally double depth plan with one front room to each side of central entrance and
integral stable to left with wide entrance. The ground floor of the house was
altered in circa mid C19 by the insertion of a double shop with central paired
splayed entrances.
3 storeys on plinth, 4 windows, all C20 replacements, with voussoirs. To left, C20
glazed front and door, pintles remaining from former stable entry. To right, paired
C19 shop front with moulded fascia, 2 canted bays with recessed triangular entrance,
with pair of half-glazed doors with acanthus consoles. V-jointed rusticated quoins
and band courses.
Interior: Former doorway between the stable and the house to rear right of stable;
C20 stair to rear right. Interior of shop retains C19 fittings, shelves and
cupboards. Rest of interior not inspected.
