SW 93 NW VERYAN PORTLOE

8/129 Corfingle and Corfingle Cottage

2 fishermens cottages. Probably early C19. Slatestone rubble with mostly scantle
slate roofs and brick chimneys over gable ends. Each cottage is 2 room, double depth,
central stair plan. Built into hillside. 2 storeys with 2 room basement to each
cottage with separate access, i.e. 4 doorways to south side. Central entrance to 2
storey north, street side of each cottage and 2 window fronts. Most windows are 12-
pane sashes. Cambered brick arches to basement and ground floor with timber lintels
over first floor windows. Cottages are stepped up the hillside and the higher cottage
has a larger stair window. Glazed C20 door approached by external C20 steps replaces
window to rear of lower cottage. Interior of Corfingle unaltered, original stair,
doors, open beamed ceilings and very narrow rooms to north side. Interior of
Corfingle Cottage not inspected. Included for group value.
