Charlotte Row (terrace)
3 houses in row, with commercial premises. Late C18 or early
C19, extended and modified in the later C19. Painted Flemish
bond brickwork, tiled double roof to central valley.
3 storeys and attic, each 3 windows, all plain sashes. Each
house has 2 tiled hipped dormers with casement lights, above
square sashes to the second floor, but longer to No.48, and
alternate sashes and French doors at first floor, behind an
added verandah, which has a glazed front in 6 paired lights
with arched heads to Nos 48 & 49, above a panelled lower
section; No.50 has an open 3-bay verandah, with plain lower
section as a deep fascia. Ground floor has a glazed front
immediately below the verandah front, in 6 bays, but No.50 has
a full-width C20 shop front. A continuous stone moulded
cornice, blocking course and parapet, and each property has a
large ridge stack to the right party wall.
The original frontage is set back from the adjacent properties
by approx 2m, which has permitted the later insertion of the
verandah and glazed frontages.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
