Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6778NE ST THOMAS STREET
873-1/23/349 (West side)
14/06/74 No.55

GV II

House in row, with shop. Early C19. Rendered, slate roof. 2
storeys, 2 windows; sash hipped dormers above a canted
8:12:8-pane oriel and a 12-pane sash in reveals, on a stone
sill. Ground floor retains an early double bowed shop front
with pilasters, centred under the oriel, in 3+3 lights to very
slender but deep mullions, and a plain fascia with thin
moulded cornice; the slight stall-risers are in C20 brick. At
the centre is an arched opening with a glazed door under a
transom and plain fanlight, and to the left a further door
under a deep transom light. To the left is a brick stack; to
the right the building seems to have been cut back by the
building of the much later No.56 (not included).
INTERIOR not inspected.
(RCHME: Dorset, South-East: London: 1970-: 352).
