Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6778NE TRINITY ROAD
873-1/23/370 (South side)
12/12/53 Nos.2 AND 2A

GV II

House in row. Late C18, raised and extended mid C19. Painted
brickwork front, rendered back, low-pitched slate roof. The
party wall to No.1 is at an angle, accommodating the bend in
the street; the rear has a slight gabled wing with brick
lean-to.
3 storeys, 4 windows; at second floor four 4-pane sashes to
chamfered lintels and stone sills above 2-storey tripartite
12-pane sash elliptical bows to deep fascia and slight
cornice. To the right of each at first floor is a 12-pane
sash. Centred to the bows, in a recessed elliptical-headed
panel is a wide 6-panel fielded door with elliptical fanlight
in pilaster doorcase with Doric columns having fluted neckings
and a flat entablature. To the far right (No.2A) a further
door, 6-panel with plain transom light in pilaster surround
with entablature. The eaves is to wide-spaced brackets paired
to the windows. There are a behind-ridge and gable stacks in
brick. The rear includes an arched staircase sash with margin
panes with a smaller sash below.
The first-floor windows and the roof form suggest that the
building was either raised or rebuilt during the C19, but the
work below is of fine C18 quality, with slender glazing bars.
INTERIOR not inspected.
