Terrace of 3 houses in row. Early C19. Flemish bond brickwork,
rendered gable and rear wall, slate roofs.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, double attics and basement, each
1-windowed; full-height flat bows with tripartite sashes,
those at second floor retain glazing bars, but others are
plain sashes, and No.20 has a C19 two-pane flat shop front in
pilasters to a cornice with gablets. The top floor has small
modillion cornices to the bows.
To the left of No.20, in a brick arch to painted deep reveals
is a door to fanlight, all on 8 stone steps with nosings, and
with spearhead railings returned at both sides. At the
basement level is a sash in a slight bow, and a 6-panel flush
door under the steps, which are carried on a brick arch with
iron camber bars.
The doors to Nos 21 & 22 are paired, each 6-panel part-glazed
under painted-in fanlights in plain reveals, and on 5 stone
steps, with railings across the full width of the frontage,
returned to the doorways, and continuous with No.20. At
basement level is a 12-pane sash to No.21, a 3-light casement
to No.22; and 2 flush-panel doors under the brick-arched
steps. The basement is accessible by a pavement at the lower
level. Full-width plain strings at first and second floor
levels, and a simple 'cornice' on paired brick dentils, below
a blocking course with coped parapet; there are 2 large ridge
stacks.
The rear has a mansard roof with dormers at 2 levels, a single
flat-roofed at the upper level, and 6 to the lower slope.
Below are various lights, including tall stair lights to Nos
21 & 22, which also has a large flat-roofed addition. No.20
has a 2-storey slate gabled narrow range, with a range of
workshop windows to the upper floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
