House and attached wing wall now 2 dwellings. Late C18. Brindled brick in
Flemish bond, Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 1 : 3 : 1 bays with attached wing
wall on left masking outshut against left return. Brick plinth, central bays
break forward. Central 6-panel door with 3-pane overlight beneath flat arch;
sashes with glazing bars to other bays have similar arches. 1st floor: band
beneath similar windows, that to centre blind. Dentilled eaves course
continues across and over central 3-bay pediment having ashlar copings.
Hipped roof with brick ridge stacks flanking the pediment. Attached wing
wall to left projects forward before returning at a corner pilaster to mask
the much-altered outshut (forming part of the The Shambles). Also known as
'the Court House' having served as Manorial Court for Hatfield.
