Farmhouse. Circa 1800, with alterations and additions of later C19 and some later
alterations. Rendered stone rubble. Slate roofs with ridge tiles and gable ends.
Gable end stacks with rendered shafts. The addition to right has a hipped slate roof
with a stack to the outer side with brick shaft.
Plan: Double depth plan. The main central front range has one large drawing room to
centre, with an entrance hall to left with the stair hall to rear left; at the right
end there is a range at right angles, with a hipped roof, which has a parlour to
front and a small unheated room to rear, probably a dairy. To the rear are shallow
service rooms in a 2-storey integral outshut, the room to right heated by a stack to
right.
Exterior: The main front range is a symmetrical 3 storeys and 3 windows; ground and
first floor have deep mullion and transom casements of circa late C19; at first floor
each window has a wrought iron balconette. Second floor has three 2-light 2-pane
casements. Band course at first floor cill level, carried around the entrance block
to left and the parlour range to right. To left is the lower 2-storey entrance block,
with panelled panelled doors with fanlight with decorative wrought iron radial
glazing bars; first floor has 2-light 2-pane casement. To right is the lower 2-storey
parlour range, with mullion and transom window at ground floor, first floor 2-light
2-pane casement. The left side of the main range has the band course returned half-
way; cellar door to right. Tall 5-pane stair light to left. Attached to left, a one
storey and attic outshut with large stack with shaped top; at the rear the outshut
has a door, single casement to left and 2-light casement to right. The right side of
the parlour range has 12-pane sash at first floor to left, 2 casements to right and
single light at ground floor. The rear of this range has 2 single casements at ground
floor. The rear of the main range has the 2-storey integral service outshut; this
forms a catslide roof with the main range. Ground floor has 24-pane sash with
sidelights, and door with slate hood to right. At first floor, two 3-light casements.
Interior: Not fully inspected, and may contain good features of the early C19. The
front drawing room has a marble chimneypiece at the left end, with Adam-style frieze
with central cartouche, moulded mantel. Plain cornice.
