Close Cottage and
4/42 Nether Westwick

House, now divided into two dwellings with Close Cottage to left. Early C18
with late Cl9 alterations. Roughcast and painted sandstone rubble with roughly-
dressed quoins; pantiled roof with double row of sandstone flags at eaves;
stone and brick stacks. 2-storey, 6-bay front: each dwelling of 3 bays. Ground
floor: Close Cottage has central blank bay and flanking renewed 12-pane sashes
with projecting sills; Nether Westwick has central C20 door, round window and
flanking 16-pane sashes with projecting sills. First floor has six renewed
12-pane sashes with projecting sills. Left return of Close Cottage has
semicircular oven projection to right of boarded door under heavy oak lintel.
Steeply-pitched roof has overhanging eaves and flat-coped gables; corniced
stone left end stack; ridge and right end brick stacks.

Outbuildings attached to right return of Nether Westwick not of special interest.
