Two long ranges of C17 brick almshouses. The brickwork is very largely
of stretcher courses and much restored. The ranges are dated 1670 and
1698. Roofs over the single storey are steeply tiled and have eight rectangular
chimney stacks, at intervals, much restored. Pairs of simple Tudor doors
separate stretches of 4 window in one range, 2 windows in the other (all
diamond-leaded casements of two or three lights). Low brick wall. encloses
narrow garden in front of the ranges, each apnroached through 1 tall brick
entrance gate. Each gateway contains a sunken stone panel. engraved with
a record of the charitable gift. RCHM, pages 123-124.
