Milepost. Early C19. Monolith, triangular in section with ramped top. Right face reads 'To Halifax 4 miles', left face 'To Rochdale 12 miles'. The Halifax to Rochdale turnpike road was enacted in 1735, being one of the earliest in the country (Hanson p 227).
