Group of 10 limestone headstones, c.1700 - c.1800. Repositioned
C20 in a row along the churchyard boundary between 6 and 15m west
of the tower of the Church of St. Mary.
Headstone 1: - c.1800, John Goodisson, segmental head, carved
with drapery in low relief.
2: - Richard and Jane Goodisson, d.1817(?) and 1826,
similarly carved.
3: - Mary -, d.1760(?), carved with an hourglass,
cherub and skull.
4: - John S-, d.1761, segmental head, carved with a
cherub flanked by foliage.
5: - Early C18, a cartouche with skulls in relief and
drapery at the sides.
6: - Similar to 5, with well-carved skulls, cross-
bones, hourglass, pick and shovel, sickle and
coffin, and cherub.
7: - c.1800, an oval with a young man, an urn on
a pedestal with foliage.
8: - Late C18, Samuel Burder, segmental head, carved
with a cherub with flowers.
9: - Early C18, segmental head, carved with cherubs,
an hourglass and crossbones. The epitaph on
an open book.
10: - Similar to 9, but with moulded edges following
the outline of carved bones, cherubs and
drapery.
