GV II

Granary, now used as games room. c1800. Red brick with some
burnt headers, low pitched, peg-tiled roof. Square plan,
raised on square sectioned Portland stone staddles with
overhanging caps, brick double arched tunnel vaults under
floor from each face. NW face, principal original doorway,
round headed with gauged brick voussoirs, original door of
boards with bead decorated edges. Small projection of roof
over doorway. SE face, C20 doorway cut into original aperture
with gauged brick voussoirs, door of `stable' type with lower
recessed panel and upper glazing with glazing bars, 3x3 panes,
C20. Iron stair and balcony. NE and SW faces both have windows
with glazing bars, 2x2 panes, SlW fixed, NE 2-light casement.
INTERIOR: butted, joggled side purlins, crossed tie-beams with
raking queen struts. Original strap hinges on back of
principal door. The granary, Queen Mary Chapel (qv) and the
Lodge to Rochetts (qv) form a group.
