Lodging house. c 1815. Built for Jonathan Shult, proprietor of the adjacent
Swan Inn, and used as a residence for Mr Shult and also for lodging very important
guests. Ashlar with ashlar dressings and slate hipped roof with overhanging eaves
supported on wooden brackets. Two wall stacks. Plinth and second floor band.
Square plan. Three storeys. South front has central projecting columnar porch with
pediment, the 2 columns have baseless fluted shafts and unusual Egyptian style
capitals. C20 door with fanlight flanked by single sashes with moulded ashlar
surrounds. Above 3 further sashes and above again 3 smaller sashes. All these
sashes have margin lights and glazing bars. Two storey wing to rear.
