House. Early C19, C20. Red brick with some bricks burnt,
peg-tiled roofs. Rectangular plan of 2 units of unequal widths
with 2 end stacks and one further stack on rear E elevation
enclosed by C20 rebuilt single-storey block said to have been
a bakehouse.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Front W elevation, dentilled eaves
cornice, hipped roof, 3 sash window range. Ground floor, 2
segment headed windows, early C19 sashes with glazing bars,
4x4 panes. Between them, central doorway with door case,
architrave decorated by reeding and paterae. Door
contemporary, 2 lower flush panels with similar reeding and
paterae, upper glazing now with glazing bars, 3x4 panes.
Rudimentary later flat headed porch - iron tubular pillars,
wooden block capitals. First floor, 3 similar early C19 sash
windows. Rear, E elevation, 3 window range but irregular and
augmented on ground floor, 2 segment headed C20 2-light
casement windows with glazing bars, 4x3 panes and additional
similar window to N cut in C20 into wall. Between original
window openings rebuilt bakehouse has hipped peg-tiled roof.
C20 boarded stable door and window with glazing bars, 4x2
panes, one C20 2-light casement window with glazing bars, 4x3
panes and one casement, 2x2 panes. First floor, 2 early C19
sash windows with glazing bars, 3x4 panes and in between, one
C20 2-light casement window. S end elevation, 2 abutted blocks
each with a hipped roof, wider to W, narrower to E, pilaster
buttresses at junction of blocks but brickwork all appears
contemporary. Stack with tumbled brick shoulders on W together
with 2 windows, ground floor C19 beaded frame, casement with
glazing bars, 2x3 panes, first floor, C20 sash with horns. N
end elevation similar to S end but no pilaster buttress.
Similar stack and two C20 windows, both sashes, ground floor
with segment head.
INTERIOR refurbished. Ground floor fireplace at N end with
early C19 reeded surround. Stair with narrow handrail and thin
square section chamfered balusters. The roofs of the 2
parallel blocks are both simple softwood versions of clasped
side purlin type. They appear to be contemporary.
