GV II*

Monument and railings. Dated 1849, restored 1979 and 1990. By
TC Hine. To George Frederick Cavendish Bentinck. Ashlar.
Gothic Revival style. Square base, 3 steps, with chamfered
corners and renewed iron railing with spiked corner posts.
Canted square pedestal with plinth and inscription. Corner
pedestals each with a seated lion carrying a gilt metal
banner. Square canopy with gabled angle buttresses and
panelled base with shields. On each side, a cusped arch with
hoodmould under a crocketed gable. Above, an elaborate
crocketed spire with finial and a single tier of traceried
gabled lucarnes.
