GV II

Drinking fountain. Probably c.1865, altered. Sandstone. Coved
recess in rock built into embankment. Round-headed arch with
rusticated rock-faced surround including imposts and keystone.
INTERIOR of smoothly dressed stone in 2 pieces separated by a
band at impost level, with remains of water pipe protruding
through the centre (fittings removed). History: was built on
site of natural spring, but this dried up, and piped water was
substituted in the 1880s.
