Town house, now flats. c.1840; altered. Red brick in Flemish
bond, with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth
single-fronted plan with a back extension. Three storeys over
basement, 2 bays; stone plinth, 1st floor band, plain frieze
and moulded cornice. Doorway to left (up 3 steps) has a
semi-elliptical head of gauged brick, a set-in doorcase of
three-quarter columns with stiff-leaf capitals and square
abaci, a moulded entablature with little modillions, a door
with round-headed panels, and a plain fanlight with Greek-key
surround. The ground floor has a canted bay with a cellar
window in the plinth, 4-pane sashed glazing and a moulded
cornice with blocking course, and both upper floors have
4-pane sashes with wedge lintels, those at 2nd floor with
raised sills. Chimney stack at junction with No.4 to the
right. Rear has small canted bay at ground floor, 12-pane
sashes above, and 2-storey back extension with sashes
including one with 16 panes. INTERIOR not inspected, but
cellar probably connects by tunnel under road to garden
opposite, which has spear railings with urn finials.
