Pair of small town houses. c.1860. Red brick in Flemish bond,
with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Shallow double-depth
plan, each house double-fronted. Two storeys, 3+3 windows, a
symmetrical range with a plain frieze and moulded gutter
cornice, a through-lobby doorway in the centre, and each
facade symmetrical. The doorways have moulded architraves with
cornices on consoles, and panelled doors with overlights; the
lobby doorway (which is very small) has a plain surround. The
windows have raised sills and wedge lintels, all with altered
glazing; heads of cellar windows on both sides. Ridge
chimneys. Rear: very shallow back yards. Matches Nos 11 and 12
(q.v.) and Nos 13 and 14 (q.v.) to left, and complements Nos 2
to 8 opposite.
