TAMWORTH

Public house. C17, with possible earlier origins; late C18 and
C19 additions and C20 alterations. Brick with rendered stucco
front; tile roof with brick stacks. 2-unit plan with later
extensions. Single storey with attic; 3-window range with
2-window addition to left and single-storey addition to right.
Entrance to right of centre has porch with columns without
capitals and narrow entablature; 4-panel door. Windows have
rusticated wedge lintels and C20 small-paned casements; 3
dormers to attic have similar casements. End stacks and
cross-axial stack to left of entrance. Rear has early C19 and
late C19 gabled wings with end stacks. Interior: chamfered
spine beams to 2 ground floor rooms with possible base of
cruck between; cellar reported as having beam; evidence of
possible cruck construction obscured by C20 alterations.
