Barns. Late C17 or early C18 range of 2 barns in L shape.
Built of Isle of Wight stone, the north and east walls
partially timber framed clad in weatherboarding, the south
east gable of brickwork and roof retaining traces of thatch
under later corrugated iron sheeting. South east barn is of 5
bays. North wall is timber framed and clad in weatherboarding
on 5 feet high plinth, appears to have had timber framing
replaced by stone rubble with 3 layers of ventilation slits.
Central cart entrance with cambered brick arch to north. East
gable has C17 brickwork. Angled queen post roof with collar
beam, 2 tiers of through purlins and ridgepiece. Upright posts
have C18 profile. 2 C18 brick buttresses. North west barn is
also of 5 bays. South west gable and north west front are of
stone rubble with 2 tiers of ventilation slits, north west
barn has been rebuilt in C20 brickwork and breeze blocks.
North east side is timber framed, clad in weatherboarding on
stone plinth. Angled queen strut roof with 2 tiers of purlins
and ridgepiece. Upright posts have C18 profile. Attached C20
lean-to not of special interest.
