Handloom weaving workshop, now dental surgeries. c.1800,
altered (and rear wall entirely rebuilt in C20). Red brick in
English garden wall bond (5+1), with composition tile roof.
Rectangular plan. A low 2-storey 9-window range. The ground
floor has an altered window and doorway at the left end, then
6 segmental-headed windows with altered glazing, the first 2
larger than the others. The 1st floor has nine 2-light
horizontal-sliding sashes, all with 15 small panes in each
leaf. No chimneys. HISTORY: occupied in 1808 by Ainsworth &
Co, when it contained 181 cast-iron looms and 77 wooden looms;
a very unusual survival of an industrial building representing
the transition between domestic and factory-based production.
