Pair of houses, now shops. Early C19 with C20 alterations.
Sandstone ashlar with slate roof and gable stacks. 3 storeys
above a cellar, and 2 bays with, on the first and second
floors, tripartite windows with plain reveals, square flush
mullions, and sashes without glazing bars. The sills provide
the only modelling of the facade. The ground floors are
occupied by C20 shop fronts of traditional design. The
left-hand shop front (to No.54) now extends under No.54A (qv)
to the left.
