32/48 Rectory Cottage and
Rosemullion Cottage

Pair of semi-detached cottages converted from a terrace of three cottages. First
cottage built between 1730 and 1760 with later C18 alterations and addition to
east to create three cottages now two C19 alterations. Timber frame brick, C19
render, plain tile roof. Two flush gable end rendered brick stacks, one brick
ridge stack. Two storeys. The external timber framed walls of the first cottage
rebuilt in brick but the stud and braced cross partition between its two bay
hall and service bay, the upper part of the wall separating the rear lean-to
and the upper part of the east gable remain. The central cottage, formed in
the service bay with entry from the rear, is now divided and incorporated in
the present pair of cottages. Three window front: on the ground floor the windows
alternate with two entrance doorways, all with segmental arched heads. Two C19
projecting gabled porches. Three-light casements with glazing bars to both floors.
Interior: Rectory Cottage retains mid C18 inglenook fireplace with timber lintel
and chamfered bridging beam with moulded cyma stops. Later C18 inglenook fireplaces
in centre and against east gable wall (Rosemullion Cottage) Roof has paired rafters
