GV II

Town house. c.1830, altered. Red brick in Flemish bond, with
sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth plan
double-fronted plan with back extension. Two storeys over
cellars, a 3-window facade, symmetrical, with plain frieze and
moulded gutter cornice. The ground floor has a wide doorway
with doorcase of engaged Ionic columns, entablature with
moulded cornice and blocking course, panelled door and
overlight with radiating tracery, flanked by large rectangular
bay windows (1:2:1 lights) with panelled pilasters and
dentilled cornices; the 1st floor has windows with raised
sills and wedge lintels; all these windows sashed without
glazing bars. Included for group value.
