SP 82 NE SOULBURY THE GREEN

3/48 Nos. 20 (Holly Cottage)
and 22 (Ravenstone Cottage)

Pair of small houses Late C16-C17, altered. Timber frame, left
half with whitewashed render infill and planking over frame, right
half with whitewashed brick infill. Half-hipped thatch roof,
central rendered chimney, later chimney to left. 1½ storeys, 4
irregular bays. No. 22, to right, is slightly lower and narrower than
No. 22. No. 22 has 3-light barred wooden casements flanking
central board door, all with segmental heads, and barred horizontal
sliding sash in thatch to right. C20 lean-to to centre of building
has tiled roof, barred wooden casements and C20 door to No. 20.
Door has small gable over. No 20 also has 2 casements in thatch, that
to left C20, that to right an old 3-light leaded casement. Interior
of No. 22 has massive chamfered spine beams and stop-chamfered
joists in right hand-room.
