Pinfold

(Formerly listed as Horse Engine)

II

A former pinfold of c.1800, built of red brick with a slate roof, wrought iron finial and wooden eaves. The floor is concrete. The octagonal structure measures 8m in width and stands to a height of approximately 2.5m. The roof appears to be a more recent addition although the central post rising to the apex of the roof does appear to be older. However, the rounded finish on the wall top would suggest that the pinfold was not originally roofed. There are two small windows, in the top of the wall on the northern and eastern sides with a wide entrance on the north western side served by a wooden door.
