Two houses in row. Griffin Cottage. Mid C18. Coursed ironstone rubble and
squared coursed ironstone. Steeply pitched slate roof. Brick end stack. One-unit
plan. 2 storeys. 1-window. Entrance to right has panelled/glazed door and wood
lintel. 2-light casement to right with wood lintel. Small rectangular window to
left with wood lintel and iron bars. First floor has single 2-light metal
casement in wood frame. Wood lintel. The Butcher's Shop. Mid C18 with C19
alterations. Squared coursed ironstone. C20-tile roof with stone-coped gables.
Brick ridge and end stacks, the one on right end on chamfered-stone base. 4-unit
plan altogether. 2 storeys. 2-window range. Left part has raking roofed outshot
with slate roof extending across elevation. Wide wood lintel and partly blocked
window. Right part has French doors with margin glazing and wood lintel. 2-light
wood casement to left with wood lintel. Canted bay window to right. First floor
has two 3-light metal casements in wood frames, one with a chamfered wood
lintel. Blocked centre openings on both ground and first floors have wood
lintels. Wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs. Sundial in right gable.
Interiors not inspected.
