The Old Rectory,

Private house, formerly Rectory. C16 with C18 and C19 re-fashioning. Rubble
walls, roughcast and painted. Concrete tile roof with half-hip at right band
end. 2 storeys. 5 windows, sashes with 4 large panes. Front door at centre,
wooden with marginal glazing bars. Wooden doorcase with plain pilasters, capitals
with triglyph frieze and dentil cornice over. Interior: flagstone hall.
Plank-and-muntin partition, C16, with straight and moulded chamfers. Ceiling
beams in left hand room, dividing ceiling into 16 compartments with finely-
moulded chamfers, C16. Stone fireplace, square headed with moulded jambs, C16.
Roof of arch-braced collar construction, 2 trusses survive c 3 feet below modern
roof level. Trenches for through-purlins. The C19 stone wing is now another
property, and not of listable quality. "RCHM Dorset I", p 267 (4).
