Canal reservoir lodge. Circa 1830, probably by Thomas Telford and with
circa 1880 extension. Red brick, rendered at rear. Slate hipped roof
with deep eaves and octagonal brick stack at apex with C20 pots. L-
shaped on plan, the original lodge has a canted front and in circa 1880
a wing was added to the rear and left. 2 storeys. Original lodge to
right has canted front with tall sash windows on each side on both
storeys with vertical glazing bars only and in segmental arch openings.
Set back on left a later C19 2-storey two-window range with sash
windows. At rear hipped roof wing on left and gable-ended wing on right.
Interior: not inspected.
Note: The reservoir was built by Thomas Telford in 1826 to supply water
to the Birmingham Canal, which was rebuilt by Telford from James
rindley's 1768 canal.
