Boer War memorial. Erected 1906 in Cornhill, moved to
Christchurch Park 1931. By Albert Toft, sculptor. Concrete and
bronze. Stepped square-section plinth with attached bronze
plaques to each of 4 faces of upper stage; the plaques
inscribed with names of soldiers. Life-size bronze statue of
soldier in uniform resting rifle barrel on advanced left foot
in attitude of contemplation. Signed A Toft, Sculp.
