Detached house. 1875. By Frederick Barnes, for his own
occupation. Builder J Pells & Son. White brick under slate
roofs. Strong design with studied asymmetry to north front.
2 storeys. North front in 3 parts. In centre is a panelled and
glazed door set in a recess behind an elliptical pierced stone
arch on a pair of pilasters. Pierced brick balustrade above
forms a balcony reached by a sash window with glazing bars.
Wide eaves extend over right part of elevation, which has a
small gable to the roof. The right part has 2 horned sashes to
the ground floor, each with margin glazing and each under
segmental arches. Above is a single 1/1 horned sash under a
segmental arch and within a projecting entablature.
The left part of elevation consists of a triangular bay
projecting to a point, with each of its 2 faces lit through a
segmental sash with margin glazing; segmental heads. Pierced
brick balcony above reached from an arched sash with margin
glazing. Large open pediment over this part. Gabled roofs.
East return with 2 external stacks rising to tall decorated
flues, 2 sashes to each floor of various forms and an oval
first-floor window. INTERIOR: not inspected.
