GV II

Villa. c1831-48 with later additions. By RW and C Jearrad.
Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof, brick and stucco
right end stack; glass and iron conservatory. Double depth
plan with service range to rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. First-floor band;
continuous stepped sill band and tooled architraves. Cornice,
low parapet. Entrance to right return a 4-panel door with
overlight with glazing bars in solid porch; entrance facade
has mainly 6/6 sashes in tooled architraves. Garden (main)
facade has to first floor a tripartite window to left, all 1/1
sashes. Ground floor has canted bay with pilasters between
windows and 1/1 sashes. Conservatory at right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A similar design to Well Close, Lansdown Parade (qv). Part of
the former Lansdowne Estate, a notable example of suburban
town planning.
