House, now offices and shop. c1820 with slightly later added
wing, late C19 and C20 alterations. Brick with stone details,
slate roof, brick stacks. Single-depth plan, end-gabled range
with later wing projecting forward from the right hand end;
the wing altered to incorporate a corner shop.
EXTERIOR: two storeys; on the ground floor, approximately
central in the front to the range, the entrance doorway to the
house is recessed in a semicircular arched opening with
keystone in a projecting, painted stone frame capped by
entablature and blocking course; fanlight with radiating
glazing bars and a fielded six-panel door; on each side of the
doorway a sash, original on the left with glazing bars (4x4
panes), replaced on the right in later C19 by sash with single
vertical glazing bar; on the first floor three sashes, the
central and right-hand sash with glazing bars (3x4 panes), the
left-hand sash replaced by sash with a single vertical glazing
bar; in the north gable-end of the range a sash on each floor
with glazing bars (3x4 panes); in the wing on the ground floor
to the front and on the return north side a late C19
shop-front; a blocked window opening on the south side; on the
first floor a small, late C19 sash and in the gable-end above
the shop-front a sash with glazing bars; all the window
openings with five raised and stepped voussoirs to flat arched
heads and projecting stone sills.
