Public house. Early C19 reconstruction of a C17 house. Red
brick. Pantiled roof. 3 storeys; 2-window range. Late C19
public house facade built out from existing building-line
comprises a central door with 2 glazed bays right and left
separated by Corinthian pilasters. Tiled dado. Two 8/8
unhorned sashes to first floor set within flush frames. They
have rebuilt gauged arches. 2 similar sashes to second floor.
Paired modillions to eaves cornice. Gabled roof with an
internal gable-end stack to south. North gable wall, in Row
109, has some C17 flint and brick. Door to right. Rear with
sashes and the scars of a gabled wing removed late C20.
INTERIOR: ground floor with 4 bridging beams with
sunk-quadrant mouldings and jewelled tongue stops. Rear door
to south with an early C17 frame: sunk-quadrant jambs and
lintel with an overlight. Winder staircase. First floor with
bridging beams with sunk-quadrant mouldings and run-out
(north) and tongue stops (south).
