Stable and coach house, now cafe. c1790; converted as cafe
1951. Coursed squared sandstone, hipped slate roof.
Rectangular plan. 2 storeys and 4 windows. The ground floor
has a segmental-headed wagon doorway beneath each of the 1st 3
windows (all now filled with glazed screens); the 1st floor
has 16-pane unhorned sashed windows. One ridge chimney offset
to the right. The left return wall has a flight of external
steps; the right-hand return wall has coupled wagon doorways
like those at the front (and similarly altered), and 2 windows
at 1st floor with altered glazing. INTERIOR altered.
Forms group with Towneley Hall (qv) and with the Craft Museum
(qv).
