GV II

Park gateway. c1850, painted mid C20. Terracotta with
wrought-iron gates. Designed by Godfrey Sykes, the terracotta
made by Minton. North Italian Renaissance Revival style.
Cruciform central piers have panels with relief decoration,
twisted shafts to front and rear, plinths, cornices and urn
finials. Smaller square outer piers have similar enriched
panels and ball finials. Central pair of gates flanked by
smaller pedestrian gates. Matching protective railings around
the piers.
