BRENCHLEY
TIBBS COURT LANE
No 3 Bourne Cottages

II

Small house. Probably C18 or earlier. Framed construction, weatherboarded to
the front elevation; peg-tile roof; brick stack.

Plan: The best-preserved cottage, externally, in a row fronting Tibbs Court
Lane. The front block is 2 rooms wide with a central lobby entrance, the 2
rooms probably heated from back-to-back fireplaces. Rear elevation and
interior not inspected so details of plan unclear on survey. The internal
dividing walls of some of the other cottages in the row have been altered and
No 3 may originally have been part of a larger house.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with a central C19 panelled
front door and 2 C19 2-light casements to each floor, 6 panes per light.

Interior: Not inspected but may be of interest and an internal inspection
could necessitate revising the suggested dating.
