Memorial to Godfrey Sykes artist and
Memorial to Godfrey Sykes. Dated 1871. Resited late C20.
Terracotta, painted late C20, and bronze. Elaborately
decorated Corinthian column topped with bronze urn. Square
pedestal with 4 bronze relief panels, one of them a portrait.
Moulded plinth on square base, surrounded by a cast-iron
railing. Godfrey Sykes, 1824-66, was a teacher at the
Sheffield School of Design and supervised the decoration of
the South Kensington Museum 1859-66.
