House. Probably C17 in origin C20 alterations in progress at time of survey
(1989). Framed construction, the ground floor underbuilt in brick, the first
floor weatherboarded; peg-tile roof; brick stacks.

Plan: The house faces east. 2-cell main range, the rooms heated from end
stacks; rear right outshut, rear centre C19 wing at right angles. Known to
have been 2 cottages at one time.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front, the roof gabled at ends;
end stacks, the right end stack projecting with tile-hung set-offs. C20 front
door to left of centre; various C19 and C20 1-, 3- and 4-light casements, some
with small panes.

Interior: Exposed carpentry, the wall posts jowled. Some evidence of a
former smoke bay at the left end.

Roof: Tie beam and clasped purlin arrangement, probably an C18 replacement.

Group value with other listed roadside houses at Mile Oak.
