ST 88 NE
LASBOROUGH (north side)
10/192 Nos 15 (West Cottage),
17 (Japonica Cottage) and 19
GV II

Three adjoining cottages. Probably c1854-6 by Lewis Vulliamy as
part of the moving and rebuilding of Westonbirt Village by Robert
Stayner Holford in preparation for construction of Westonbirt House
(q.v.). Coursed stone, stone slate roof, stone end and ridge
stacks. Single long range with No 15 to left end forming a T-
shape with rear wing and projecting front gable, single storey and
attic. Four unevenly sized gables, including projecting wing,
with scattered single or 2-light stone mullions with leaded
casements and square hoodmould. Ground floor has raking porch in
corner to left of No 15 and steep projecting gabled porches to Nos
17 and 19, all with chamfered Tudor arches and some original plank
doors. No 19 to right has later small canted bay modelled on
original bay of No 11 (q.v.). Although slightly altered these
cottages are important as part of the rebuilt village group
including Nos 7-29 (odd), (q.v.).
