1640, restored in 1890. Almshouses, the gift of Robert Hudson, Citizen and Haberdasher
of London and a native of Melton Mowbray. Coursed stone with plinth and dressings.
Steeply pitched stone slate roof with 3 gables over windows and central door. Centre
gable has Hudson Coat of Arms in stone between 2 diminutive Ionic pilasters, small
cornice and inscription. Lintel of central door inscribed 'Maison Dieu 1640".
2 storeys. Under each side gable is a 4 light ground floor and 3 light upper floor
window. Under centre gable a door with moulded depressed stone arched flanked by
2 light windows. Centre upper storey window of 5 lights. All fenestration is of
C17 (restored) with stone mullions and dripstones.
