Lodge and gateway. The Lodge is a small late C18 building. Two storeys. Three
windows. Ashlar. Projecting portion in the centre with blind round-headed arch on
ground floor, cornice over and panel with swags and pediment with a chimney at its
apex. The side portions have long and short quoins. Glazing bars intact.
The Gateway is at right angles to the north-east with a curved stone wall between.
The main carriage entrance is flanked by square ashlar rusticated piers. On each
side of these there is a piece of wall and then a pair of higher piers, topped by
trophies and helmets, which are the work of V Prost of Dijon. To the east and south
of the Gateway is an C18 stone wall enclosing the grounds, of which the south portion
is curved into the entrance to the Works courtyard which has ashlar piers and iron
gates.
