Barn. Mid C16 timber-frame encased in stone probably early C18. Coursed rubble, corrugated iron roof replacing stone slate. Single-aisled barn of seven bays. Full-height cart-entry set in fifth bay, the doors hinged on posts which have mortices for bottom-rail and mid-rail and brace to wall-plate, the soffit of which has mortices for close-studding perhaps indicating the doorway is not in its original position. To right, low ventilators and part of post with similar mortices for bottom- and mid-rails indicating that this side was timber-framed and the barn was originally single-aisled to rear. To left of cart entry an added outshut, not of special interest, occupies three bays. Set back to left end barn has clear break in masonry indicating an added bay. Rear: long sloping roof to aisle. Quoined angles. To right end, added bay set back has rubble masonry above a ground-floor plinth, perhaps indicating a former timber frame.

Interior: fine timbered interior. Posts on padstones have jowelled heads and curved braces to arcade-plate and tie beam of roof trusses which have tall king posts braced to a square-set ridge, originally without struts, struts inserted later supporting a single purl in. Rafters renewed. Aisle-ties have strutted principals and mortices for wall-posts and braces on soffit of tie.

An impressive interior and rare within the region.
