House, now shops with flat above. C17 with C19 alterations.
Stucco over timber-frame, below old tiled roof. Lead flat roof
at left. Red brick chimneystack at rear with long earthenware
pots.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic (No.19). First floor has three
projecting canted wooden oriel bays, with plate-glazed sashes,
supported on cut brackets. Ground floor has C20 shopfront at
left (No.19) and altered late C19 shopfronts in centre (No.21)
and in 2-storey flat roofed extension at right (No.21A) plate
glazed shop windows with wood frames, half-glazed doors,
stucco stallrisers, continuous fascia with foliated carved
consoles and moulded cornice. Roof with single box dormer with
sash window, lead cheeks.
INTERIOR: Nos 21 & 21A opened out to form a single shop, with
timber studwork of former end wall removed leaving mortices in
exposed plate, exposed beams with chamfer and tongue, reset
C18 panelling, and altered brick fireplace on rear wall. Upper
floors and roof not inspected.
