Entrance gateway to former mine. c1875. Red sandstone with
iron gates. Central vehicle entrance with attached wing walls
which link to pedestrian gateways to Rose Cottage on left (qv)
and Glenfield House on right (qv). Vehicle entrance: piers are
square sectioned, built on chamfered plinths and have moulded
pyramidal caps with small gablets; plain iron gates without
original finials. Dwarf walls to each side link to pedestrian
gateways with square piers: Glenfield House gateway has iron
gate with Gothic Revival tracery beneath top rail with
finials; piers have chamfered caps. Rose Cottage gateway
altered. Part of iron-ore mine group built to serve Stank No.2
pit. Included for group value.
